If you decided to let her have one and you're concerned about it, why don't you monitor her while she is on it to make sure something that shouldn't be happening doesn't happen

my little cousin is 11 and she and all of her friends all have a myspace. its no big deal, but u should make sure that she sets her profile to private (that means that nobody can see her profile unless she has approved them as a friend), and tell her not to add anybody that she doesn't know.

I have my computer in our living room so I monitor all that goes on.They both know not to accept people they do not already know. Just educate your daughter on what is accepted and what is not and monitor it. I would never have a computer in my children's bedroom. Plus, she can always make her account private which makes it even safer. Just make sure that she doesn't give out any info such as her full name, address, phone number, what school she goes to, if she plays sports....don't mention what team she plays on, plus never leave places where she might be going.
If all else fails you can always delete her page and put parental controls on your computer!!
